Building Control application and working drawings for a domestic property in Brixworth, Northampton.

This is an ongoing self build kitchen extension which is built in the most sustainable way. Renewable materials such as structurally graded timber and recycled roofing tiles along with HUGE insulation values make this a very cost effective build both in build cost and running costs. This extension is almost twice as efficient when compared to a standard domestic build. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic this build project is on hold due to material limitations however finished images will be posted soon.

DESIGN ONLY PROJECT

For this project the local authority would not grant planning permission for a new build on the site.

The solution was to build a barn which would be used as agricultural for 3 years and then later apply for change of use.

This barn was to be built with suitable foundations and structural elements so that it would simply be a matter of resuming the building process to transform a barn into a small home.  The build was split into individual components and panels which could be re-arranged very easily and/or swapped to glazed panels etc...
